NEWS POST 11/23/2011
Many players have questions about the additional service downtime this week regarding the Game Server Upgrade. Your questions are heard and we’d love to clarify as many as we can.
Thank you for your understanding and patience as we seek to bring a better gaming experience for all in Dragon Nest SEA.
Q. Why are there so many downtimes in a single week?
A. Apart from the routine weekly service maintenances, game server upgrades only occur once in a blue moon. The upgrading process requires movement of physical servers and it is highly recommended to be done independently from routine maintenances or game patches.
Game server upgrades are no easy feat. To manage the risk, game servers for all 4 worlds cannot be upgraded con-currently. Hence, upgrading of servers has to be carried out on separate days.
Your in-game belongings are important and we have to ensure they are properly taken care of.
Q. Why is the downtime so long?
A. Game server upgrade involves hardware parts replacements. There are technical tests involved to ensure each world is functioning properly before “Live” service can be resumed. Since this involves physical movement, the maintenance is usually longer than expected.
Q. Why is the maintenance schedule is not notified 24 hours in advance?
A. The Dragon Nest team has just received the server hardware parts for the upgrade. To ensure that parts of the upgrading do not affect the weekends and upcoming holidays in December, we have to commence the upgrade as soon as possible.
Q. Why is the upgrading not done in the middle of the night?
A. Major upgrading of hardware requires various supports from developers, publishers and technicians from supporting ISP agencies. This is a consolidated effort and to match the schedule between all parties, the maintenance is planned at the best possible timing to avoid peak game play hours in the evening.
Q. Why do all 3 Worlds need to experience downtime when only Westwood is upgrading?
A. Due to the game and server structure designed by EYEdentity, maintenance and upgrade requires all worlds to be inactive at the time of servicing. This is to prevent any problems or abnormalities which might occur between active worlds at the time of the upgrade.
Q. Why I am not compensated for my Cash Costumes duration?
A. We have not forgotten about you!
Cash Costume compensation will be carried out after the maintenance is over. Together with yesterday’s game patch downtime, we will be extending the cash costume durations. Announcements for the duration extension will be updated again.
